Spoiled By Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

Title: Spoiled

Author: Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

Ease: Easy

Rating: 3/5

This book isn’t a thinker but it’s entertaining. If you’re looking for something to flip open while you enjoy the spring sunshine (if you’re lucky enough to live in the southern hemisphere, that is) then Spoiled isn’t  a bad choice.

I have to admit that, if I hadn’t wanted to write a review, I would have given up on Spoiled in the first few chapters. They haemorrhaged back story and the entire first chapter was dedicated to character who was obnoxious and irritating. It read like a chick-lit novel but without the sophistication.

Luckily, the rest of the book was funny and engaging. It’s not a book with a lot of subtlety or depth but that’s not always what you need. Sometimes you just want to be entertained. The protagonists, half sisters Molly and Brooke who are thrown together by their father, navigate their new (fraught) relationship with wit and lethal determination. The other characters a bit , two-dimensional but, as there’s a second book, hopefully they’ll have the chance to become a bit more rounded.

All in all an enjoyable, if not memorable, read.
