Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

Title: Stalking Jack the Ripper

Author: Kerri Maniscalco

Ease: Moderate

Rating: 3/5

Stalking Jack the Ripper is a who-dunnit with a difference, as Audrey Wadsworth  tries to hunt down the infamous Jack the Ripper.

I found Stalking Jack the Ripper a mixed bag. Maniscalco’s debut novel is well written and Audrey is an interesting and likable protagonist – a young woman born in a privileged family who is intent on following her passion for forensic science under her uncles tutelage. The premise is fantastic.

But, the romantic interest was heavy handed and seemed to be forced in there for the sake of it.  The leading man’s feeling seemed to come out of no-where and the protagonists obliviousness seemed insincere. I would have preferred to have no romance at all and let the mystery and Audrey take center stage.

That said, if you looking for an interesting read, Stalking Jack the Ripper is not a bad option.

Happy reading!

    1. It’s a tough one because it’s not actually a bad book and I believe (but don’t quote me on this) that it’s the first in a trilogy. Maybe it’s just that the author could have done so much more with the premise. Thanks for stopping by.
